Non-Survivor boots

I had a pair of Herman Survivors in safe, dry storage for about the last 8 years. I was initially impressed at Walmart by what appeared to be good quality for a very reasonable price. We had an unusually deep early snow this year, and I dug them out for use. I got about 6 hours of use before half the sole pulled completely free from the welt on the left boot. I assumed this was a freak accident that I would repair with Shoe Goo. No such chance... the composition used in constructing the welt was of some indeterminate substance, completely deteriorated beyond repair. This is a shame, because the leather and nylon uppers on these boots are well made and completely intact. But they'll go in the trash.

Had a par of Herman Servivor revolvers in my closet for about 3 years. Put the on for a wet project last week, since they are waterproof.

Worked in them for abou 6 hours, went up ladder co-worker noticed one of the soles had came apart.

Same as you tried to repair, but inside sole between leather upper boot bottom had just disintegrated into smaller particles.. Just pure junk

Similar experience with mine. All the comments seem to point to an inferior substance used in the welt.

The squeaking and the deterioration to what looks like brake soot is all centered there. What a shame, because the boots are otherwise good construction and materials.

Herman Survivor boots, the original company at least, is no longer in business but the brand name lives on at Walmart, the sole purveyor of this once-great brand. They are sold only at Walmart and are made in China.

Those who are old-enough to remember how good the brand once was will be very disappointed in the quality of the product now sold by Walmart. Years ago, KMart would refund your money for any pair of shoes purchased at any KMart no matter when you bought them. This was years ago and most stores will no longer take back shoes that have been worn---for good reason as they cannot re-sell them and Walmart really isn't in the business of providing good customer relations.

Throw the boots in the trash and find another brand, hopefully one made in the US. Perhaps Red Wing brand?

Duck Boots - Sides split open after just a couple months

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I bought the boots from Walmart without knowing that Herman Survivors is now OWNED by Walmart. Complete junk. Sure they only cost $17 on clearance sale, but I never expected them to not even last through the winter. The weld along the sole split open, then the side rubber near the ball of foot began cracking. It's shoddy rubber that can't handle repeated flexing of the material. Unlike other reviews, the soles are actually still good, as are the uppers. It's only the rubber between the two that's shoddy. Still, it defeats the entire purpose of the boot because they are no longer waterproof, allowing the inserted liner to become wet -- something very undesirable in winter conditions, let alone any other time of the year. It should be illegal to sell such obvious crud. Taking my money is equivalent to theft.

Used to be good..NOW PURE CRAP,

Herman Survivors - Used to be good..NOW PURE CRAP,

i have has the boots since May, now 3 moths in they are seperating from the sole, have holes in the side and are basically falling apart. i have trusted the Hermans Name as the Quality and durability USED TO BE THE BEST, MOW PURE WALMART CRAP.

if i knew walmart bought out the name and were now being made in China i would never have bought them.

I used to own pairs years ago and they lasted forever.

I WOULD HAVE GLADLY PAID MORE FOR THE OLD BOOTS AND WAS SUPRISED AT THE PRICE...BUT I STUPIDLY FELL FOR A LOW PRICE. THE SWEETNESS OF LOW PRICE IS NOW GONE YET THE BITTERNESS OF POOR QUALITY AND GETTING RIPPED OFF WILL REAMIN FORVEVER. TIME TO GO TO CABELAS, PAY MORE AND GET QUALITY

as with any footwear you buy at walmart, prepare to get crap

Squeak like a duck

I am 55 years old have been buying these boots pretty much most of my life can't count how many boot I have bought most of them have been pretty good boots that's why I keep on buying them but I have had some that I've had some problems with dry rotting laces are terrible and squeaking noise so embarrassing they are not the most comfortable boots but I run heavy machinery for a living thank God I do not have to walk and because of the squeaking noise I always buy the stuff that's supposed to make them last longer does seem like it helps the store will not take them back if you wear them trying to break them in trying to hopefully get the noise to go away confused what should I do change to a different pair of boots or keep on buying boots and being disappointed squeaking noise is so embarrassing

Not pleased

Boots are very good quality & feel good while waking, the 600 Thinsulate keeps my feet very warm. But the soles are not put on very well . The 4th time i wore them hunting the sole on the right boot came off & the left 1 came loose on the front. Ive used some Shoe Goo on them . I have a older pair that came loose on the heel & the Shoe Goo seems to be holding.

My name is William and I recently purchased a pair of your Herman Survivor Big Timber steel toe boots. Upon wearing them I couldn't help but notice that there was an annoying squeaky noise coming from them every step I take. I've been buying these same boots for many years now and never had a problem. Is there anything that you can do to adjust my situation..? Sincerely William. Email Whoover39@***.com
